It's not just the kids that are loving the Gaga Ball pit! This afternoon, the elementary teachers and associates went outside to learn the game so they are prepped for recess duty. What a nice afternoon to be outside playing!

Lets help make their dreams come true! By donating you are helping students and helping to save lives. We have openings from 10am - 3pm Please do not be afraid to take a Power Red slot if that time works for you. Power Red slots are also open for whole blood donation. When you are talking with the American Red Cross staff, just tell them that you want to give whole blood only. They will accommodate your request.

Today, Central 2nd graders received a special book - Just Like Caitlin - as part of a donation of over 34,000 books given to Iowa 2nd graders. This book tells Caitlin Clark's story and includes many important life lessons like dreaming big, working hard, valuing relationships over winning and many more. The students were very excited to receive this donation! Thank you to Ally Obermeier, the author of this book, and her parents, Dickson and Luann Jensen, who made this generous donation.

If you want an adult night of fun before we get too far into the busy winter season, please plan to attend the Central Warriors Athletic and Fine Arts Booster clubs Trivia Night FUNdraiser set for Saturday, November 23 at TDs restaurant here in Elkader. Here are some of the details ! * Time: 5:00-5:45 pm teams can gather to fill out their entry form and prepare for a rousing competition that will run from 6:00 pm to about 8:00 pm! Teams: up to 6 on a team. Questions will include topics related to Central Community School history, music/fine arts and sports . This fall Central added a new course to the High School offerings. The new class, titled Athletic Officiating, is taught by Mr. Wiley using the RefReps curriculum in partnership with the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The course is designed to get high school students involved in the athletic officiating. Central has 12 students enrolled in the course and tonight three of those students were on the mat for our Junior High Boys Meet - Braxton, Mayleigh, and Reese. All three students have passed the test to become certified wrestling officials in Iowa and are working tonight under certified official Joe Koehn and Tim Rupard to gain experience. Thank you, Officer Mitch, for teaching our K/1 kids about crossing the street safely! Officer Mitch first read a story and then helped the kids practice safe crossing. It takes a village and we are thankful for ours!

Congratulations to these Worthy Warriors for the week of November 4th through the 8th. Thank you for showing care, commitment, and safety at school!!

Last week, 5th graders ventured to the Preschool building to make pumpkins! They helped the preschoolers use fine motor skills and built relationships with great conversations! Everyone looks forward to their time together.

The pictured artwork was accepted into the NEIAHS Art Show, hosted by ArtHaus in Decorah. Last Friday evening, some of the students attended the open house gallery reception with Mrs. Lechtenberg. Artwork will be on display for public viewing, during ArtHaus business hours, throughout the month of November. Congratulations to all of our talented artists!

The Gaga Ball Pit is up and getting some good use! Mr. Ledbeter taught littles AND bigs to play and it's fun for all ages!

Catalysts for Change: 4-H Youth Voice in Action Summit Fayette, Iowa – Youth voices are power behind change in their communities. That was the message of Youth Voice in Action, a day-long 4-H summit at Upper Iowa University led by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach county and state youth outreach staff on October 21. During the sixth annual event, 88 youth from 15 area schools learned about using their voice for leadership, decision making in teams, and making an action plan for change in their community. They also heard from ISU Extension and Outreach staff on various workshop topics. Participating Schools were from: Allamakee, Bremer, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard and Winneshiek counties.

Central Warriors have been working tirelessly to put together a Veterans Day Program to honor all our military members: past, present, and future. Program begins at 2pm doors will open at 1:30pm for seating.

Don't forget to RSVP to our Family Literacy Night on Tuesday, November 19th from 6:00-7:30. Our goal is to get families into the building and for all of us to be partners in helping students become better readers by providing materials to go home with to engage in literacy rich activities. We have Central Warriors bags to give out to each family that participates, as well as a free supper for your whole family and giveaways for each grade level PS - 6th grade! Please RSVP by November 8th by either returning the form that was sent home with your student(s) or by emailing sburke@central.k12.ia.us . We need only one RSVP per family, and appreciate getting "No" RSVPs as well so we know you are aware of this event.

Seventeen Central Community FFA members received their degrees last night! There were four Discovery, eleven Greenhand, and two Chapter FFA Degrees awarded! Our most current American Degree recipient, Dani Whittle addressed the attendees and Blair Scherf presented the FFA Creed! Congratulations to all!
