8th grade girls will meet March 11th at 3:15 in the small gym for a meeting and short practice.
7th grade girls will meet in the small gym on March 12 at 3:15 PM for a meeting and short practice.
7/8 grade boys will meet March 13 at 3:00 PM in the small gym for a short meeting.
Exciting News! Our Central Website now has a health section that includes all health forms needed for registration, including preschool! It also has a list of the state health requirements, required health forms and general health topics. Please visit intermittently throughout the school year for potential seasonal updates!
Students in Introduction to Design class connected with Tara Follon, former Central student. She is a student at Iowa State University, working towards a career as an Architect. Tara has also traveled to different countries through her educational experiences. Central students enjoyed visiting with Tara over Zoom, and asked many interesting questions.
State Speech
Central students will participate in Individual Events at State Speech Saturday, March 9, at Waldorf University, Forest City. Central's schedule is posted here. For any spectators, remember to arrive at a performance center EARLY. The goal is to stay on time throughout the day, but it is always best to arrive 5-10 minutes before the performance you are interested in watching.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are this week: Tuesday, March 5 4:00-7:00 and Thursday, March 7 2:30-7:00. We will have several resources in the Commons area for you to speak with at your convenience. Below is a list with a very brief description.
Clayton County BEST (Information about the program.)
NICC Success Coach (Olivia Yokas will be talking about her role, primarily coordinating job shadow experiences.)
JMC Questions Answered (Mrs. Christeleit will be helping families with logging on, checking grades, etc.)
Substance Abuse Awareness (Adam Sadewasser and Mitch Seitz will have items on display, explain new trends, and answer questions.)
Central Warrior Strength & Conditioning (Coach Bormann will be available to answer questions about this new position.)
Financial Aid (Mrs. Cobie-Nuss will be there to talk to families about financial aid for college.)
Family Liaison (Mrs. Lechtenberg will be available to meet with families and explain what opportunities she provides.)
Three Rivers FS (Central can earn 3 cents per gallon of gas you buy.)
Also, teachers in grades 5-12 are going to keep their conference conversations to 10 minutes. This goal was created based on your feedback to make conferences more efficient. If there is a need for a longer conversation we can set up a time to do that outside of the regularly scheduled conference time.
A Three Rivers representative will be set up in the commons area during conferences tomorrow from 4-7 PM. Please stop by and let her show you how you can earn Central 3 cents per gallon of fuel you purchase.

Youth Girls Basketball Camp
Two 10th grade students accompanied me to the state Capitol to learn about advocacy and speak to legislators about education!
Thank you to everyone who came to the blood drive today! We collected 61 units of blood, exceeding our goal! One deserving senior will be able to earn a $250 scholarship thanks to you!
In today’s Trauma Sensitive PD, Central staff took time writing down personal relationships they have with kids. We then looked at the list to see which students we need to connect with more. Relationships matter at Central and proud staff is looking to improve and grow!
Central High School students competed in the District contest for Individual Events Speech, Feb. 27, at MFL MarMac. This was a make-up date for a make-up date. Central took 10 students who performed in 16 events. Of these, 12 events/8 students qualified for state competition that will be held at Waldorf University in Forest City on March 9. Events in which Central students were involved included Interpretive Reading Poetry, Interpretive Reading Prose, Spontaneous Speaking, Expository Address, After Dinner Speaking, Public Address, Solo Musical Theatre, Storytelling, Improvisational Acting, and Radio News Announcing. Each individual performs before a judge who gives them comments and a 1, 2, 3, or 4 rating. Students must receive a 1 rating to advance to state. Central received 12 1-ratings and 4 2-ratings.
Central 4th graders enjoyed their Junior Achievement program with their volunteer, Ann McCorkindale. Students were taught 5 lessons where they learned all about entrepreneurship. Students were able to create their own business while learning about resources, supply chains, and problem solving strategies.
