There were 80 students and 25 teams representing schools from the northeast Iowa area. Students from Central participating were Laci O., Lexi P., Brandon W., Bella M., Keaton K., Tate B., Nate S., and Nick D. The contest consists of identifying different weeds and insects as well as reading a chemical label, grading grain samples and judging hay and silage, and a general agronomy knowledge test. The highschool team ended up 5th overall and Laci O. was the high point individual out of the 80 contestants. We would like to thank Joe and Suzanne Shirbroun for all the time and effort they put in to coaching our agronomy team. They all got the opportunity to lay block and brick and learned how to make sure the wall was plumb and level.
