The Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation annually honor Iowa’s top academic students with the Governor's Scholar Recognition Award. The seniors are selected by their high schools as their highest academic achievers based on both GPA and ACT scores. Central is represented this year by Mackayla Vlazny. Mackayla was recognized this past Sunday at the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony in Des Moines. Congratulations Mackayla!

KWWL and the University of Northern Iowa have proudly honored the Best of the Class from each high school in Eastern Iowa for their accomplishments for the last 39 years. The 2024 KWWL Best of Class recipient from Central Community School is Madylen Gregerson. Madylen was recognized this past Saturday at the University of Northern Iowa. Congratulations Madylen!

School was definitely the place to be for the kindergarteners and juniors in March with attendance rates of 93.78% and 94.20%! This was the second time the kindergarten class had the highest attendance rate out of all the elementary grades, so they celebrated with a pajama day on Monday!
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Congratulations to these hard working students!

Kristy Schaffer is having the opportunity to present her research about water sanitation in Mongolia at the Iowa Youth Institute of the World Food Prize at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa today! She is connecting with agriculture leaders and 300 students from across Iowa!

In honor of Arbor Day, 4th graders planted a tree with Kenny Slocum from Osborne today! A big thanks to Fort Atkinson Nursery for donating the beautiful maple! They also were given a swamp white oak seedling to take home and plant.

PLEASE NOTE: There has been a change in location for this summer's driver's ed. courses. Previously scheduled to be held at Keystone AEA, they will now be held at Central School.

Danielle Shea presented the third graders with certificates for completing Junior Achievement. Mrs. Shea made multiple visits with our classes, teach them lessons about managing money. Thank you Danielle for taking time out of your day to spend with our students!!!
Yesterday, Central Preschool and Junior Kindergarten enjoyed the school day at Country View Dairy learning how milk is turned into dairy products. The kids especially enjoyed the calves, frozen yogurt and park!
