Day one of the 97th Iowa FFA Leadership Conference has come to a close! Central Community FFA members observed leadership development events, networked with agricultural businesses and colleges, listened to keynote speaker Dan Venteicher, heard greetings from Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, witnessed our own FFA member Jordan Everitt being honored for his 1st place proficiency, and more!
Central's golf team is off to a great start today at home vs W Central. Central girls win with a 235 and Katie Royer tying for 2nd with a 58 and Addison Amsden tying for 1st with a 57.
Boys win 171-217 with Owen Burke taking 2nd with a 42 and Griffen Hammersland taking 1st with a 41.
Don't forget - Thursday is a regular school day and NO SCHOOL on Friday!
Fourth graders had fun hearing animal presentations from the High School Biology class today!
We had an exciting morning at Central today! Adam DeShaw was sworn into the office of the Clayton County Sheriff and was pinned by his 2nd grade daughter, Adeline! Adam's family was in attendance, as well as all of the 2nd grade students. Thank you, Sheriff Ostrander, for holding this special ceremony at Central!
Twenty-two talented musicians from Central proudly represented our school at the IHSMA State Solo-Ensemble Festival today. Their hard work and dedication paid off in a big way—we are thrilled to share that our students earned eight Division I ratings and eight Division II ratings!
But the excitement doesn’t stop there—Madrigal’s Small Choir performance and Maxwell’s snare solo were each selected as Outstanding Performers in their centers! Out of four possible Outstanding Performer selections across our events, Central earned two—an incredible accomplishment! These exceptional musicians will travel to Iowa State University in May to perform at the prestigious Outstanding Performance Showcase.
We are so proud of all our performers for their commitment to excellence. Way to go, Central musicians!!

Middle school Agriculture is starting a lesson about groups and teams! We began it with dividing the class up into groups and the students learned how to do the human table!
6th grade Science students went on a Microorganism Safari Hunt today during class. They were able to see many organisms as well as identify them through microscopes!
It's never time to rest in the music world-especially as we prepare for State Large Group Festival! Today, the Central Choir had the opportunity to perform at the Opera House and work with our favorite clinician, Mrs. Anne Franta. Huge thanks to Kay Moser for graciously allowing us to rehearse in such a beautiful and inspiring space. And, of course, thanks to Mrs. Franta for challenging us with thoughtful feedback and helping us grow as musicians. Last but not least- thank you to the amazing students of Central Choir. Your dedication, talent and kindness make every day a joy.
Who's ready for a full day of Track & Field?!
On Saturday, April 12th, twenty-four Central musicians will travel to Clayton Ridge to perform at the IHSMA State Solo-Ensemble Festival. This is one of the most challenging events of the year, and the students have been working hard to prepare.
The first Central performance begins at 8:15 AM, and the final one wraps up at 3:40 PM. Throughout the day, you’ll have the chance to hear incredible music from some of the area’s most dedicated student performers.
We’d love to see lots of familiar faces in the audience cheering them on—your support means the world to these young musicians!
🧬Central Elementary Receives STEM Scale Up Grants🧪
The Northeast Iowa Regional STEM Advisory Board has selected Central Elementary's Scale-Up application for "Getting Started with Elementary OpenSciEd Curriculum".
Our K-5 teachers receiving this grant will be provided with a one day in-person training and an OpenSciEd kit for their classroom! Congratulations to our teachers!
Agriculture Plant Science is learning parts of flowers, difference between complete and incomplete flowers, and difference between perfect and imperfect flowers! Check on some of their findings from the dissecting microscope pictures! Thank you Elkader Floral Shop for donating the flowers for this learning lesson!

Mrs. Gray's class showed off their creativity and storytelling skills in the cutest rendition of The Three Little Pigs today for Mrs. Pope! Give them a round of applause!
Central's 6th grade class had a guest speaker today. Live from South Korea. Central alum and former Central teacher, Derek Bergan. Derek stayed up late to visit and answer student questions that we sent last week. He taught us some Korean words.
Congratulations to these Worthy Warriors for the week of March 31st through April 4th. Thank you for showing care, commitment, and safety at school!!
This morning Central hosted the 4th annual "UIC Powerlifting Competition". This event was started with a vision to promote strength training across the Upper Iowa Conference. Today students from Central, Clayton Ridge, Waukon, West Central, South Winn, North Fayette Valley, Postville, and Kee got together to compete in Deadlift, Bench Press, and Squat. This was a very positive event with everyone cheering for one another and nearly everyone walking away saying, "I PR'd at Central today!!!"
